The mission of the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) is to foster optimal care of the patient with any disorder that may affect the shape, alignment or function of the spine, throughout life. The SRS accomplishes this through education, research, advocacy and ethical practice.

Some of the ways in which the SRS works to fulfill its mission are:

  • Educational events for health care professional, including the SRS Annual Meeting, one-day course, and International Meeting on Advanced Spine Techniques
  • Publication of patient brochures and web information
  • Publication of spinal deformity materials for health care professionals
  • Annual funding of spinal deformity research projects through the SRS Research Endowment Fund

Members: Founded in 1966, the SRS has gained recognition as one of the world's premier spine societies. From its earliest days, the Society has maintained a commitment to research and education in the field of spinal deformities. Strict membership criteria ensure that the individual Fellows support that commitment. Current membership includes over 750 of the world's leading spine surgeons, as well as some researchers, physician assistants, and orthotists.
